HISTORY GOES LIVE: “Cascade of History” to Broadcast From Historic Fort Steilacoom This Sunday

On Sunday, March 22, 2026, history isn’t a thing of the past, it’s hitting the airwaves live. Radio personality and historian Feliks Banel will bring his acclaimed show, Cascade of History, to the Commanding Officer’s Quarters at Historic Fort Steilacoom for a special live broadcast event.

Feliks is bringing some top-notch historians who he will interview live for the program.

The public is invited to witness live radio in person. The evening begins with a pre-show “warm-up” from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by the live broadcast from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Please arrive before 8 because all the volunteers are going to be very busy then.

Can’t make it in person? Tune in to SPACE 101.1 FM in Seattle or stream it live at space101fm.org. You can also subscribe to the Cascade of History podcast on your favorite app so you never miss a story.

Fort Steilacoom, established in 1849, was the first US Army fort in Puget Sound. Learn more about it at https://historicfortsteilacoom.org/

Navigation Note: Finding the historic buildings in Lakewood can be a challenge for first-time visitors because the museum is tucked back from the road. Head toward the main entrance of Western State Hospital. From the roundabout there, you’ll be able to see the historic officer’s quarters and the fort parade grounds.

If you use the name Fort Steilacoom with your phone or vehicle, you might be directed to either the park across the street or the Pierce College campus. That’s not where you want to be for this. You can use the street address 9601 Steilacoom Blvd SW Lakewood but make sure the GPS is taking you to the parade grounds in front of Western State.
